The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team traveled to Grand Rapids South Christian for the MHSAA D2 Regional on Saturday. The girls competed well against top-notch competition, placing 12th of 16 teams. Senior Megan Lennemann continued her stellar senior season by qualifying for the D2 State Finals, placing 18th in a lifetime personal best time of 20:07. Senior Clara Deeren notched a season best time of 21:44, good for 39th place. Freshman Carleigh Thompson ran a lifetime best 22:38, good for 53rd place. Freshman Hannah Luttman finished 93rd in 27:35. Freshman Angie Reyes raced to a lifetime-best time of 33:15 to earn 100th place.
While Lennemann will compete in the MHSAA D2 finals at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, the rest of the team will conclude their season at the St. Johns Last Chance meet at Uncle John’s Cider Mill on Thursday.
