The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team recently competed in the League Championship. Seven teams and 77 girls participated in the race, and our team secured 6th place. Junior Carleigh Thompson led the team with a 14th place finish, achieving a lifetime PR of 21:01.9, a 37-second improvement. This also earned her 15th place overall and a spot on the honorable mention all-conference team. Freshman Ava Benedict finished 24th overall with a time of 22:11.3, while freshman Fiona Sizemore placed 28th overall and ran a personal best time of 22:24.5. Freshman Dakota Badder achieved a significant personal best time of 27:50.8, finishing in 60th place. Junior Angie Reyes secured a season-best time of 32:08, placing 73rd overall. Sophomore Emily Anderson, returning from a shoulder injury, ran a personal best time of 32:53.6 and finished 77th.

The Bulldogs’ next meet is on Saturday, October 26th, for The Regional Championship at Grand Rapids South Christian High School.
