      The Ionia Boys Track and Field team was represented at the MHSAA State Finals by 8 of their boys.  They qualified for the MHSAA State finals by Thrower Brandon Grant, Sprinters Travis Tucker, Jimmy Peabody, and Trevor Tooker, Hurdler Clay Currigan, and Distance Runners Josiah Magley, Heath LaPointe, Jacob Montgomery, and Andrew Gerdes.  The boys had a decent day overall.  They didn’t have many PR’s but performed at or near their expectations for the day.      Josiah Magley earned All State Recognition by finishing 8th in the 3200M Run with a time of 9:26.49.  The Ionia results were as follows. Getting invited to the Junior Greater Lansing Honor Roll Meet of Champions is no easy task.  Out of 34 schools, only the top 16 athletes in each event are invited, and only the top 8 relay teams for each event get to compete.  Medals are then handed out to the top 8 individuals/relay teams, with the top 3 performers for each event being honored on the awards stand.  The IMS girls worked hard all season in hopes that their PR's would get them invited to the honor roll meet, and Kennedy Batista, Grace Droste, Avery Hoppough, Emma Hoppough, Hannah Luttman, Amelia McGee, Paislie Patterson, JoAnna Platte, and Sadie Roberts represented the Bulldogs well! Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Sadie Roberts, finishing in 4th place in shot put.  The 4x200 relay team of Amelia McGee, Avery Hoppough, Grace Droste, and Paislie Patterson also picked up some medals by finishing in 6th place.  Below are Ionia's official results from the Honor Roll Meet.  Great season Bulldogs! 200 Meters  ...

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Vincent Flohr, who finished in 3rd place in the 55m hurdles and was recognized on the awards stand!  Vincent Crippen earned his medal by finishing in 7th place in the 70m dash, and Morgan Rogers brought home some hardware by pole vaulting into 7th place! Our 4x100 relay team of Vincent Flohr, Vincent Crippen, Scotti Kimber, and Wolton Sandborn picked up some medals by finishing in 5th place.    The Girls Track and Field Team competed at the Greater Lansing Honor Roll meet at Lansing Waverly High School on Tuesday May 31, 2022.  The Honor Roll meet features the top High School athletes in each of the 17 normally contested events throughout the Greater Lansing Area.  The athletes have to qualify to compete in this individual (Non-Team) event. The schools competing were from all for Divisions and various Athletic Conferences from the mid-Michigan area.     The Ionia Girls qualified for 7 of 17 events with three of the Ionia girls medaling in the High Jump.  The Ionia Girls earned a total of 8 medals in 6 of the events they competed in with a total of 2 PR’s, both coming from senior Maddie Hanulcik in the 800M run (2:28.06) and the 1600M Run (5:30.32).
