The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team took on harriers from 14 teams in grade-level races at the Central Montcalm Hornet Invitational Saturday morning. Since athletes were split into race divisions by grade, no team scores were kept. All five Bulldogs came home with medals in their respective races. The freshman were paced by Carleigh Thompson who placed 6th in 24:33. She was followed by Hannah Luttman in 14th place with a lifetime pr of 29:52. Angie Reyes placed 23rd in 41:34. Megan Leggemann cruised to a 5th-place finish in the senior race in 21:56. She was followed closely by Clara Deeren in 8th place in 23:11. The Bulldogs will focus on their training next week in preparation for their first CAAC White Jamboree on September 20th at the Country Mill.
