The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team took to the orchard fields at Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns in the Last Chance Invitational on Thursday afternoon. This meet was a final chance for anyone not competing at the state finals to set a personal record. No team scores were kept as this meet was focused on getting a last PR. The ladies had outstanding races and finished the season on a high note. Clara Deeren finished 4th in a season record time of 20:52, beating her best by 0:14. Megan Lennemann knocked 0:44 off of her lifetime PR, finishing 13th in 22:13. Charly Smith crossed the line in 20th place with a lifetime PR of 23:12, an improvement of 0:14. The season will wrap up on Saturday when Maddie Hanulcik competes in the D2 State Finals at Michigan International Speedway.
