The Ionia girls’ cross country team competed well in the final league jamboree of the season at Portland.  Despite dealing with some adversity over the last couple of weeks, the girls raced well and placed 4th, just 6 points behind Charlotte.  Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Maddie Hanulcik who placed 5th in a time of 20:24 and earned All-CAAC recognition.  Clara Deeren was the next Bulldog across the line, placing 9th in 21:38 and earning All-CAAC as well.  Megan Lennemann was the third Bulldog, finishing 20th in a lifetime PR of 22:57.  Megan earned All-CAAC Honorable Mention despite only racing two of the three jamborees.  Charly Smith cruised to a 23rd-place finish in a lifetime PR of 23:26.  Tempyst Aikens rounded out the scoring finishing 39th in 27:40.  Ionia will return to action on Friday, October 29 when they compete in the MHSAA D2 Regional meet at the St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt.
