The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team competed in the Greater Lansing Championships on Saturday at Ledge Meadows Golf Club in Grand Ledge. The Bulldogs toed the line with 37 other teams in the race that featured schools of all sizes from the region. While the Bulldogs were unable to score as a team due to illness, they competed hard in the field of 222 girls. Leading finisher for Ionia was Clara Deeren who completed the course in 22:05, good for 81st place. Megan Lennemann followed in 23:53. Charly Smith ran a personal-record time of 24:58 and Tempyst Aikens clocked a season-best time of 27:32. The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday in the final CAAC White league jamboree at Portland where final league standings and all-league awards will be determined.
