The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team competed Saturday morning in the Cougar-Falcon Invitational on the Campus of Calvin University. The Bulldogs toed the line with a total of 250 girls, finishing 8th of 10 teams in the Cougar division. The course was a bit muddy from this week’s rains, but that didn’t stop Maddie Hanulcik from medaling with a 16th place finish in the Cougar division (43 overall) with a time of 20:38. She was followed by teammates Clara Deeren in 39th place in 22:20, Megan Lennemann in 53rd place in a personal record time of 23:35, Charly Smith in 72nd place in a personal record time of 26:42, and Tempyst Aikens in 78th place in 29:57. The Bulldogs will travel north to Shepherd on October 2nd for another opportunity to compete in a large meet.
