The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team took to the course at Burchfield Park in Holt for CAAC White Jamboree #1 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs raced extremely well under ideal weather and course conditions, finishing 3rd as a team with 81 points to LCC’s 20 and Eaton Rapids’ 58. Every girl earned a season or lifetime PR time. Maddie Hanulcik led the way finishing 4th in a lifetime PR of 19:16. Clara Deeren was second for the Bulldogs cruising to a 7th place finish in a season-best 20:38. Megan Lennemann continued her improvement in her first seaon by placing 15th in a lifetime PR of 22:19. Paige Campbell was the fourth Bulldog, placing 32nd in a lifetime PR of 24:33. Charly Smith rounded out the scoring five with a lifetime PR of 25:03, good for 33rd place. Tempyst Aikens also ran a season-best time of 28:49. Ionia will get back to work and look to build on this in two weeks in the second of three league jamborees. Next up for the Bulldogs is a Saturday race against top-notch D1 and D2 competition at the Cougar-Falcon Invitational at the Gainey Athletic Complex on the campus of Calvin University.
