The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team hit the woods behind Central Montcalm High School for a grade race on Saturday and all five Bulldogs brought home a medal.  There were no team scores as athletes competed in separate races based on their grade in school.  The Bulldogs were paced by senior Maddie Hanulcik who finished 2nd in a time of 20:56.  Junior Clara Deeren finished 5th in her race with a time of 22:38.  Junior Megan Lennemann was strong in that race as well, finishing 10th in 24:08.  Freshman Charly Smith raced to a 19th place finish in the freshman race with a personal record time of 28:27.  Junior Tempyst Aikens finished 19th with a season record time of 29:31.  

The Bulldogs will take a break from racing this coming week to focus on their training and will return to action September 21 at Burchfield Park in Eaton Rapids,the first of 3 CAAC White jamborees.
