9-1-21 Saranac Invitational
The Ionia Girls’ Cross Country team raced their first 5k of the season on Wednesday at the Saranac Invitational. The Bulldogs battled strong competition over the hilly course and placed 9th out of 12 teams in the D1 / D2 race. Three of the Bulldogs were competing in their first 5k and the team showed a lot of promise. Leading the way and medaling for Ionia were Maddie Hanulcik in 10th place (20:14 season PR) and Clara Deeren in 23rd place (21:06 season PR). Megan Lennemann finished 74th (24:48 lifetime PR), followed by Paige Campbell in 89th place (27:12 lifetime PR), and Charly Smith in 94th (30:01) to round out the scorers for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldog women will return to action September 8th at the Marauder Invitational at Uncle John’s Cider Mill.
