Girls Cross Country Takes First at Saranac Meet

The Girls Cross Country Team competed in Saranac Thursday evening against Saranac, Lakeview and Lakewood. Ionia girls won the meet with a score of 36. Saranac came in second place with 37 points, Lakewood was third with 52 points, and Lakeview was fourth with 104 points. Top finishers for Ionia were Maddie Hanulcik in 3rd place with a 21:38, Clara Deeren was 4th at 22:02, Avery Roundtree was 6th at 23:10, Kayla King finished 10th with a personal record (PR) of 23:26, Jordyn Diebel was 13th at 24:20, Breann Wandell was 19th at 25:16, and Teija Castle was 21st at 25:56. Ionia’s next Cross Country meet will be on Saturday in Belding. Varsity girls will run at 10:30, and JV girls will run at 11:35.
