THORNAPPLE KELLOGG HIGH SCHOOL: 52
The Ionia jv boys basketball team defeated Thornapple Kellogg by a score of 54-52. We got out to fast start, getting ahead 23-8 in the first quarter and then the scoring slowed from there. Both teams competed hard but we were able to execute in the final minute to seal the win.
Carter Starks hit the game winning shot with 4 seconds left in the game for the second game winner in a row for Carter. Carter scored back to back buckets in the final 40 seconds of the game. Colt Piercefield led the way in scoring with 16 points. Myles Perrien had a huge offensive rebound put back for a basket in the fourth quarter, and Trevor Hodges took a charge late in the second half that was huge for us.
The Ionia boys jv improve to 13-0 on the season. We will travel to Eaton Rapids for a conference game on Thursday with a 7:00 pm tip-off.
