The Ionia Boys Jv basketball team wins a thriller Thursday night vs Portland. Ionia was down 34-29 at the end of the third quarter, then scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to win the game 52-48.
Colt Piercefield scored 20 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, and two free throws to seal the game with 4 seconds left. Brent Starks scored 14 points, including 3 free throws in the last minute. Wyatt Erridge took a big charge in the second half and scored a big three pointer late in the fourth quarter. Carter Starks had a solid game, scoring 8 points to go with 8 rebounds and played really well on defense.
The Bulldogs improve to 7-0, and 3-0 in the conference. We will be off until next week Thursday (1/12) when we travel to Charlotte for a 7:00 tip-of
