What a match!  The Ionia A Volleyball Team showed some GRIT tonight.  The first set was tough.  Ionia had a few missteps and Portland capitalized.  The Lady Dawgs managed to keep the score close but lost 21-25.  The Lady Dawgs were determined as the second set started.  Ionia picked up their defense and served well during the second set.  Ionia won the set 25-22 to send the match to the third and deciding set.  Ionia won the serve but Portland stepped back and served 9 straight points.  The Lady Dawgs dug in and kept fighting.  With the score 2-10,  Amaya Frias stepped back and served an incredible 13 straight points!  Her serve was either an ace or if Portland managed to return serve Ionia was all over it.  The Lady Dawgs did not let that ball drop on their floor.  Behind the strong serves from Frias and incredible defense from the team the Lady Dawgs won the final set 15-10.  What a comeback!  The Ionia A Team ends their season with a 6-4 record.  Well done, ladies!
