The Ionia Volleyball A Team extended their win streak to 9 tonight as they swept Waverly taking all three sets.  The Bulldogs were off the bus and on fire tonight as they jumped out to a commanding lead in the first set behind Adelyse Perry's 7 straight serves.  Aubree Shaw added to the point count by dropping in 3 aces and 1 kill.  Brooklyn Shattuck was solid at the net as she tallied 3 kills and Carmen Hoppough added two.  Ionia won the set 25-15.  The second set was more of a battle as Waverly picked up their defense and stretched Ionia's offense a bit.  Carmen Hoppough led with 4 aces, 2 kills and Brooklyn 2 aces.  Aubree Shaw was swinging all night and she recorded a total of 5 kills.  Setting up all the hitters was the defensive play of Adelsye , 4 digs and 2 assists and Mollie Lemke 1 dig.  Ionia managed to hold off a determined Waverly squad and took the set 25-23.  Whew!  A lot of volleyball was played tonight and the match was not over.  The third set was a bit of a battle.  Ionia stepped up their offense and dropped in 5 kills (Adelsye and Aubree both scored 2 with Carmen putting down 1).  Payton Hoppes helped Ionia as she served 4 straight over and put down 1 ace.  Ionia needed everyone on the team to gel and they did. There was a bit of scrambling but Ionia won 15-12.   The Ionia A Team is 9-0 and will play their final home match in the Dawg House on Monday against county rival Portland.  Come out and support your Lady Dawgs!
