The Ionia A Volleyball Team was clutch tonight!  The girls may have started a bit slow but did they ever finish on fire!  Ionia struggled a bit with serve receive in the first set.  Ionia was behind 10-5 when Gena Rogers stepped back and served six straight points.  Ionia's defense came alive and the girls started to pass well and set the ball for their offense.  With the momentum shifting Ionia fell just short losing 19-25.  The Lady Dawgs were determined.  The second set had Ionia jumping out to a 5-3 lead and kept battling.  Miah Wittenbach and Izzy Barr were the top servers in the second set.  MIah had 10 service points and Izzy 5.  It all came down to the final set.  The scoring went back and forth.  The Lady Dawgs maintained some long rallies and kept on pushing.  With the score tied at 14, Amaya Frias stepped back and served an ace.  The next serve had everyone in the building holding their breath as the ball hit the top of the net and fell in for the final point.  Ionia won 16-14.  The victory brings Ionia's record to 5-3. What a match by everyone on the team.  Well done ladies, it was truly a team effort!  The Lady Dawgs will play St. Johns at home on Monday.
