PORTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL : 2
The Ionia A Volleyball Team battled from the first serve to the last against the visiting Portland Raiders. The Lady Dawgs had to dig deep and persevere as they faced some tough serving from Portland. Ionia's serve were just as tough. Ionia dropped the first set 18-25 but were Bulldog tough in the second and won 25-18. The third and deciding set was awesome! Ionia and Portland went toe to toe serving and hustling and playing as a team. Sixteen points were needed to determine a winner. Ionia tied Portland at 14-14 and Portland was able to win the next two points. Ionia lost the third set 14-16. Miah Wittenbach had 12 service points, Amaya Frias had 10 service points, and Ava Bowen led Ionia defensively. The Lady Dawgs played well and are now 2-3 overall and will travel to Eaton Rapids on Wednesday.
