ST. JOHNS MIDDLE SCHOOL: 2
The Girls 7th Grade A Volleyball team lost a heartbreaker tonight. The first set was tough. The Lady Dawgs went toe to toe with St. Johns returning serves and holding their own offensively. Gabby Meyers started the set with 5 straight service points. But Ionia came up just short losing 23-25. The Lady Dawgs came out all fired up in the second set and dominated St. Johns. The serves were strong and Ionia went on the attack. Ebony Williams had 4 kills and Kylie Leonard had 6 service points to lead Ionia to a 25-13 win. The third set was tough. The scoring went back and forth. The ladies gave it their all and fought til the end. Ionia lost 16-17. Coach Swinehart is very proud of her team and how hard they played together and didn't give up. Ionia is 2-5 on the season and travels to Portland on Monday.
