Ionia traveled to Mason today for the Mason Invitational and finished 6th out of 8 teams with a score of 275.  Everyone who swam today earned team points in at least one event.  There were 30 more personal best times including a 17 second drop in time by Ella Udell in the 200 yard individual medley and a 10 second drop in time by Kaylynn Doty in the same event!  Many girls swam events that were challenging for them, and they rose to the occasion!   Katelyn Lamphere, Taylor Browne, and Addie Bowne all raced hard to the end to out-touch their competition by less that 0.1 second.

Amelia McGee brought home gold, finishing first in both of her events with state cut times.  She'd added the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly to her list of state qualifying events.

Other highlights included medal winners finishing in the top 8:

The "newbie" 200 yard freestyle relay of Jadyn Gardner, Audrey Wall, Addie Bowne, and Isy Vasquez took home silver.

Katelyn Lamphere took 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle and 6th in the 50 yard freestyle.

Adah Drown finished 3rd in the 100 yard butterfly.

The 200 medley relay of Katelyn Lamphere, Adah Drown, Ella Udell and Amelia McGee took 3rd.

The Medley relay of Katelyn Lamphere, Adah Drown, Ella Udell and Isy Vasquez took 7th.

Kaylynn Doty took 8th in the 100 yard backstroke.

Evelyn Kleibusch finished 8th in diving.

Ionia will travel to Williamston on Thursday for the first conference meet of the season.
