After an exciting two days of racing, Ionia finished second in the CAAC Red Conference, earning 483 points. After yesterday's fast prelims, we had an additional 23 best times. We had several medal winners today!
Amelia McGee was the conference champion in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke, breaking Charlotte pool records in both events.
Isabelle Robinson was the conference champion in the 200 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle.
The relay team of Isabelle Robinson, Adah Drown, Ella Udell and Amelia McGee are conference champions in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Evelyn Kleibusch was the silver medalist in diving, earning her a position at regional diving competition.
Katelyn Lamphere was the silver medalist in the 50 yard freestyle and the bronze medalist in the 100 yard freestyle.
The relay team of Katelyn Lamphere, Isy Vasquez, Adah Drown, and Lexi Heinlein took silver in the 200 yard medley relay.
The relay team of Katelyn Lamphere, Ella Udell, Isabelle Robinson, and Amelia McGee took silver in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Other notable swims included Ella Udell who dropped time both days in the 100 yard breaststroke and took 4th after a tight race, Addie Bowne who dropped 5 seconds in the 50 yard breaststroke, Maddie Lemke who dropped 11 seconds over 2 day in the 200 yard individual medley, Nadya Strickling who broke 7 minutes in the 500 yard freestyle, and Audrey Wall who dropped 6 seconds over 2 days in the freestyle leg of the relay.
While the season has come to a close for most swimmers, competition will continue for a few of our team members.
Some swimmers will travel to Grand Ledge on Tuesday to compete in the Second Shave Meet hoping to improve their individual times or to earn a state cut relay time.
Evelyn Kleibusch will travel to St. John's on Thursday to compete in the Regional Diving Competition.
Amelia McGee will travel to Eastern Michigan University on November 22-23 for the Division 3 State Finals.
