MASON HIGH SCHOOL: 110
Ionia traveled to Mason tonight and suffered the second loss of the season, 69.5-110.5. In spite of the tough loss, the girls swam well overall. The competition was there, and the girls had to bring their A race. There were fifty-one best times, including relay splits. The swimmers are working hard in practice, and their efforts are paying off. The biggest time drops of the night were from Taylor Browne, Isabelle Robinson, Kennedy Batista, Halli Parham, Nadya Strickling and Rain Pinnow.
Highlights of the evening included:
Amelia McGee took first in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle. The 100 free was a tight race the whole time, and Amelia fought to the end winning by 0.2. Her technical attention to her turns paid off in this race.
Katelyn Lamphere took second in the 200 yard individual medley, racing hard to the finish with a personal best time by 7 seconds. Katelyn also took third in the 100 yard butterfly.
Ella Udell raced into second place in the 50 yard freestyle, out-touching the competition by 0.3. Ella also took third in the 100 yard freestyle.
The relay team of Eily Martinez, Ella Udell, Katelyn Lamphere and Amelia McGee took first in the 200 yard freestyle relay
The relay team of Isabelle Robinson, Katelyn Lamphere, Eily Martinez, and Amelia McGee took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Ionia will travel to St. Johns on Tuesday for the next dual meet. On Thursday, Ionia will host the last meet of the season. At this meet vs. Williamston, we will also honor our seniors. Both meets start at 6 p.m.
