Ionia hosted Haslett tonight and came away with the first loss of the season, 60-120.  While the loss was a tough one, the racing was solid in the pool tonight.  Each team member is making progress and improving.  Eily Martinez and JoAnna Platte both broke 30 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle - a goal they've been working toward for a long time.  Every team member either swam a new event they haven't swam before or had a PR.  They are working hard and making gains, achieving 38 personal best times tonight.  Several swimmers dropped impressive amounts of time including Amelia McGee, Brynn Labadie, Lena Cox, Lexi Heinlein, Avelin McGuire, Rain Pinnow, Adah Drown, Halli Parham, and Addy Lepien.

Highlights of the evening included:

Katelyn Lamphere took 1st in the 200 yard freestyle, out-touching her competition by 0.05.

Amelia McGee took first in the 200 yard individual medley, securing a personal best time, and first in the 100 yard backstroke.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the team of Amelia McGee, Katelyn Lamphere, JoAnna Platte, and Eily Martinez took second being narrowly out-touched but dropping almost a full second from their seed time.

In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Martinez, Isabelle Robinson, McGee and Lamphere took second.

Amelia McGee will compete in the MISCA meet at Calvin University on Saturday.

The team will travel to Mason to compete next Thursday at 6 p.m.
