CHARLOTTE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 62
Ionia won vs Charlotte tonight, 111-62. In the annual Purple Meet, for Ionia Community Awareness, the team members swam strong in honor or memory of their loved ones. Thanks to the support of the spectators, Ionia also raised just over $200 for Ionia Community Awareness.
There were 31 personal best times over the course of the evening. Ella Udell and Kennedy Batista both had the most time drops of the night. Katelyn Lamphere, Kaylynn Doty, Maddie Lemke and Hannah Luttman also had impressive time drops. There were a few really exciting races. Kaylynn Doty came from behind in her leg of the medley relay to help her relay finish third. Addy Lepien out-touched her competitor by 34 hundredths. Isabelle Robinson swam into 2nd place in the 100 yard butterfly by 6 hundredths. Eily Martinez out-touched her teammate by 0.47 It was a night of fighting hard to the finish. Many girls swam events they haven't swam before, and they really gave their best effort.
Other top finishes of the night included:
Isabelle Robinson - first in the 200 yard freestyle with a best time.
Katelyn Lamphere - first in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard backstroke with a best time in each.
Amelia McGee - first in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly.
The team of Eily Martinez, Addy Lepien, Isabelle Robinson and Amelia McGee took first in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The team of Brynn Labadie, Katelyn Lamphere, Ella Udell and Amelia McGee took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Special thanks to all of our family and friends who came out to support the team and participate in the purple shirt ceremony. Thanks to the Ionia Cross Country team for participating in a fun relay at the end of the meet. Thank you to team alumni Brynn Lepien, Riley Browne and Alexis Burns, along with assistant coach Teri Babcock, for participating as mystery swimmers in our t-shirt relay to close out the evening.
