Ionia Girls Varsity Swim traveled to Mason High School today for the Mason Sprint Invitational.  Ionia finished 10th out of 11 team, but the finishing place does not tell the whole story.  The swimmers in the pool today raced hard and swam well.  They are making great progress as the season continues.  There were 26 personal best times today.  Amelia McGee swam in the 50 yard freestyle and earned a state cut time.  Addy Lepien had the biggest time drop of the day in the 50 yard butterfly.  Amelia McGee and Makayla Lepley each had a personal best race early in the meet and then beat their own record later in the meet.  The relay team of Eily Martinez, Katelyn Lamphere, Amelia McGee, Addy Lepien, Isabelle Robinson, Brynn Labadie, Adah Drown and Ella Udell finished the meet strong for us the in 8 x 50 400 freestyle relay, taking silver in a come-from-behind finish.

Amelia McGee- 1st in 50 yard backstroke, 2nd in 50 yard freestyle

Katelyn Lamphere - 4th in the 200 yard freestyle

Isabelle Robinson - 8th in the 200 yard freestyle

7th in the Medley Relay with the team of Amelia McGee, Katelyn Lamphere, Eily Martinez and Brynn Labadie

Ionia wil travel to Eaton Rapids on Thursday for the next meet in the CAAC Red.
