The Bulldogs of Ionia hosted the Bulldogs of Mason tonight and won 108-75 in a Dawg fight in the pool.  Ionia girls really swam well and showed off their hard work in the pool.  The cheering in the stands was energizing, and the fellow student support was appreciated.  For such a young group, the team is performing very well and making solid progress as the season progresses.  There were 30 more personal best times tonight.

Madeline McGee swam the 200 Individual Medley, took first in the event and earned a state cut time.  She is now qualified for the state meet in six different events.

Other highlights of the meet include:

Ionia relay teams went 1-2 to start the meet off strong in the 200 yard medley relay.  Team members were:  Sydney Estep, Riley Browne, Alexis Burns, Brynn Labadie, Addy Lepien, Isy Vasquez, Ella Udell, and Kennedy Batista.

Amelia McGee took first in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly.

Mimi Wegener took first in diving.

Madeline McGee and Eily Martinez went 1-2 in the 100 yard freestyle.

Brynn Labadie, Taylor Browne and JoAnna Platte went 2-3-4 in the 500 yard freestyle.

Isabelle Robinson, Katelyn Lamphere, and Addy Lepien went 2-3-4 in the 100 yard backstroke.

Alexis Burns took home her first place ever in the 100 yard breaststroke, dropping over 5 seconds in her event.

The relay team of Eily Martinez, Kaitlyn Lamphere, Amelia McGee and Madeline McGee took first in both the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Ionia is now 4-1 in the CAAC Red.  The team will travel to Williamston Thursday for the next conference meet.  Madeline and Amelia McGee will compete at the MISCA meet on Saturday.
