Ionia Girls Varsity Swim hosted Eaton Rapids at home and won in the first conference meet of the season, 104-68.  There were several great races with narrow margins at the touch.  The new members of our team are making progress and the veterans are leading the way.  It was an exciting night at the pool with twenty-one personal best times.  The energy on deck and in the stands was inspiring and helped to get the team excited.  

The relay team of Madeline McGee, Katelyn Lamphere, Eily Martinez and Sydney Estep took first in the 200 yard medley relay, the first event of the night, and set the tone for the rest of the night.

Amelia McGee took first in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle.  in the 100 free, Amelia rebroke her freshman record.

Madeline McGee took first in the 200 yard individual medley and the 500 yard freestyle, swimming a personal best time.  

Eily Martinez, Katelyn Lamphere, and Isy Vasquez  took 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 50 yard freestyle in a close race, all with personal best times.  Martinez also took 2nd in the 100 yard freestyle.

The relay team of A.McGee, Alexis Burns, Riley Browne, and Lamphere took first in the 200 freestyle relay.

The relay team of A. McGee, Browne, Martinez and M. McGee took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Next week, Ionia will host Charlotte for their next conference meet.  It will also be the Purple Meet for Ionia Community Awareness.
