Ionia girls traveled to Williamston today, and finished in third place, missing second place by three points.  The format of the meet allows all of the swimmers, veterans and rookies, to get experience in shorter races.  Madeline McGee finished first in both of her events (100 freestyle and 100 individual medley) with a state cut time in the 100 yard freestyle.  Amelia McGee took first in the 50 breaststroke.  The medley relay team of A. McGee, Alexis Burns, M. McGee and Eily Martinez finished second.  Other highlights included several fast swims by a few swimmers.  Eily Martinez dropped 8 seconds in her 100 freestyle.  Isabelle Robinson raced to the finish and out-touched her opponent by 0.1 in the 100 freestyle.  Ella Udell, new to the team, finished hard and narrowly out-touched her opponent in the 50 yard backstroke.  There were 16 personal best times during the meet.  It was disappointing that race disqualifications resulted in the third place finish, but everyone had fun and learned something new.  The meet ended with a fun t-shirt relay.  

Ionia travels to Hastings on Tuesday to swim the TK/DK/Hastings team at 6:00.
