Ionia girls varsity swim traveled to Calvin University on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Division 3 state finals.  

Madeline McGee crushed her swim in the 100 yard backstroke with a personal best time of 58.85, breaking her own school record and earning All State honors.  She placed 5th in the state for Division 3 which is the highest finish for the girls team in school history.  McGee also swam well in the 50 yard freestyle, taking 9th and earning All State Honorable Mention.

Maelys Bonafe broke her own school record in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing 14th and earning All State Honorable Mention.  Bonafe also swam the 100 butterfly, finishing 16th and earning All State Honorable Mention.

The relay team of McGee, Brynn Lepien, Anouk Demel, and Bonafe swam well on Friday, placing 19th, just shy of advancing to finals.

This ends the fall season for girls varsity swim with the most successful season in school history.  The team had the best overall record in the regular season and the best finish (2nd place) in the conference since the team started in 1990.
