Ionia Girls Varsity Swimming traveled to Williamston today and took home third! in spite of the long, hot day, swimmers raced well and placed first in three out of four relays. The relay team of Anouk Demel, Calah Holman, Madeline McGee, and Maelys Bonafe too first in the 4 x 100 IM relay. The relay team of Demel, McGee, Brynn Lepien and Bonafe took first in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Josie Phelps and Lepien took first in the diving relay. Fourteen other swimmers had personal best times, and everyone in the water today earned varsity points toward the third place finish. This invitational, with it's shorter events and different structure, was a chance for all swimmers to see where they are at and what they need to work on as the season progresses. Ionia will host Thornapple-Kellogg/Delton-Kellog/Hastings on Tuesday, August 31 at home at 6 p.m.
