Ionia boys JV basketball defeated Haslett JV 60-54 in their first game of the season.
Matt McCoy helped control the tempo of the game from the start, and Carter Castillo showed great toughness by pulling down 6 rebounds and taking 2 charges to lead the way defensively. Spencer Tooker and Gage Flanner each chipped in 10 points.
Ionia JV will travel to Eaton Rapids on Thursday and look to improve on the 1-0 start.
