The Ionia Boys Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Mason on Friday and Saturday for the CAAC League Meet.  The Bulldogs swam hard both days, having a very successful meet with some great finishes and several qualifiers: 

• The team of Jaxxon Thelen, Seth Wandell, Brendin Bushee, and Nick Richey placed 7^th in the 200 yard medley relay,
• Carl Goeckel placed 3^rd with a D3 state qualifying time in the 200 yard freestyle and 2^nd in the 100 yard butterfly with another D3 qualifying time,
• Brendin Bushee placed 13 in the 500 yard freestyle,
• The 200 yard freestyle team of Carl Goeckel, Gabe Holman, Seth Wandell, and Christian Martinez took 7^th,
• Jaxxon Thelen took 15^th in the 100 yard backstroke,
• Seth Wandell too 12^th in the 100 yard breaststroke,
• And the 400 freestyle team of Carl Goeckel, Brendin Bushee, Christian Martinez, and Nick Richey took 6^th.

After today’s meet Carl Goeckel has qualified for states in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and the 100 butterfly.  So now Carl must choose which two of his three qualifying events he wants to swim at states.
