OVID-ELSIE HIGH SCHOOL: 87
On Wednesday night the Ionia swimming and diving team suffered a narrow defeat to Ovid-Elsie. The score was 86 Ionia to 87 Ovid-Elsie. Of the 12 events Ionia athletes took 1st place in 8.
Ionia’s first place finishers were: Carl Goeckel 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly, Nick Richey 200 yard IM and 100 yard freestyle Christian Martinez 50 yard freestyle, and Carliegh Thompson diving.
The team of Carl, Gabe, Christian and Nick took first in the 200 yard freestyle and the team of Carl, Brendin, Christian, and Nick took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
