four swimmers traveled to the Holland Aquatic Center for one last swim to improve their seasonal best times in events they've competed in during the regular season or events they were not able to swim until tonight.  Carl Goeckel swam the 100 yard freestyle event with a time of 52.24; he swam a personal best time in the 100 yard backstroke to a time of 1:01.97.  Nick Richey competed in the 500 yard freestyle event for the first time this season finishing with a time of 6:43.47.  Nick also swam a personal best time in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:25.13.  Brendin Bushee swam the 50 yard freestyle event for the first time this season finishing with a  personal best time of 28.62.  Brendin also swam to a personal best time of 6:26.60 in the 500 yard freestyle event.  Freshman, Christian Martinez competed in the 200 yard freestyle event and swam to a personal best time of 1:22.47 in the 100 yard breaststroke event,

All four swimmers competed in both the medley relay and 200 yard free relay.  "This was the first time these four guys swam on a relay team together and the times were pretty decent.  It gives the team a starting point for next season."  "Although this was not a point scoring competition, the swimmers were at the meet to better their times and they swam well.  This is a tough competition especially if you are trying to make a state qualifying time, but I was very pleased with the swim results from these four swimers."

Carl Goeckel will swim the 200 yard freestyle event at the MHSAA State Meet March 10 and11th at Oakland University.
