The Swimming Bulldogs competed at the CAAC Red Division League Meet at Haslett High School placing 8th with 120 points.  The two day meet began with preliminaries on Friday evening in an effort to qualify for top 16 to compete in finals on Saturday.  "We had many personal records throughout the team.  All of our relays swam on Saturday during finals and several swimmers competed in the top 16 in their individual events.  Sophomore, Carl Goeckel qualified for the state meet in the 200 yard freestyle event." 

Carl Goeckel placed fourth in the 200 yard freestyle event.  He swam a state qualifying time of 1:52.07  during  preliminaries.  Carl placed third in the 100 yard freestyle event with a personal best time of 51.08.  

Nick Richey placed 15th in the 100 yard freestyle event after dropping .64 seconds to a time of 1:03.37.  He placed 14th in the 100 yard backstroke with a PR time of 1:14.22 dropping 1.81 seconds.  Brendin Bushee swam to a personal best time of 2:22.76 in the 200 yard freestyle and placed 13th in the 500 yard free event with a 5.23 second time drop with a PR time of 6:37.24.   Christian Martinez swam the 200 yard freestyle event and placed 15th in the 100 yard breaststroke event with a personal best time of 1:22.74 which was a 2.10 second time drop from his preliminary seed time.  Estin Lyons placed 13th in the 50 yard freestyle event with a PR seed time of 27.01.  He also swam the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.16.

Chris Brown dropped time in both of his individual events during preliminaries; 100 yard freestyle with a 2.27 second time drop to a time of 1:09.17 and 4.78 second time drop in the 100 yard breast stroke to a time of 1:27.24.Elijah Peterson swam 1:14.79 in the 100 yard freestyle and 1:26.85 in the 100 yard backstroke.  Elijah was a member of the7th place  200 yard Medley Relay team of Jaxxon Thelen, Christian Martinez, Peterson and Yadiel Villodas.  Yadiel Villodas dropped 3.27 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle to a time of 33.32 and 9.79 seconds in the 100 yard freestyle event with a final time of 1:17.28.  Jaxxon Thelen dropped 1.55 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle event swimming to a PR time of 36.05.  Gabe Holman swam a personal best time in the 50 yard freestyle with a time drop of .93 resulting in a time of 32.60.  He also swam a personal best time in the 100 yard back stroke dropping 2.24 seconds to a time of 1:34.96.  Jordon Masters competed 50 yard backstroke to a time of 1:07.91.

The  200 yard A free relay team of Goeckel, Brown, Richey and Lyons placed 7th with a time of 1:50.83; the same relay team members in the 400 placed 6th with a time of 4:13.12.The 200 yard B relay team of Bushee, Holman, Villodas and Thelen dropped 7.0 seconds to a time of 2:07.28.  The 400 yard B relay team of Bushee, Peterson, Holman and Martinez swam to a time of 4:53.01.

Several team members will compete at the Second Shave Invitational at the Holland Aquatic Center on Tuesday, February 28 in an effort to earn personal best times in their events.  

Carl Goeckel will compete at MHSAA Division 3 state meet at Oakland University on Friday March 10.

The Bulldogs end their regular season with a record of 1-7.
