Bulldog swimmers continue to drop time as they swam to a 7th place finish at the De Witt Invitational on February 4. "I am so excited to see the hard work these swimmers are putting in to their practices pay off. WE had many personal best swims!"
Carl Goeckel placed fourth in the 200 yard IM and fifth in the 100 yard butterfly. He was also on the 7th place 200 yard freestyle relay team of Goeckel, Christian Martinez, Estin Lyons and Nick Richey and the 8th place 400 yard freestyle relay team of Goeckel, Elijah Peterson, Nick Richey and Estin Lyons. Estin Lyons placed 7th in the 50 yard freestyle and 15th in the 100 yard freestyle events. Nick Richey swam the 100 yard freestyle event for the first time and turned in a 7th place finish with a time of 1:04.01. He also placed 7th in the 100 yard backstroke dropping 7.17 seconds to a time of 1:16.03. Christian Martinez dropped time in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:38.37 and a 15th place finish. He placed 7th in the 100 yard breaststroke event. Elijah Peterson not only swam in the 200 yard freestyle relay, he also competed on the 200 yard Medley Relay team of Gabe Holman, Martinez, Peterson and Chris Brown placing 7th.
Brendin Bushee placed 8th in the 200 yard freestyle event and in the 500 yard freestyle event. He dropped 8.73 seconds in the 500 with a time of 6:43.43. Brendin was also on the 15th place 200 yard freestyle relay team of Christopher Brown, Gabe Holman, Bushee and Jaxxon Thelen. Christ brown dropped .47 seconds in the 200 yard freestyle to a time of 2:39.72; he also swam in the 100 yard freestyle event. Gabe Holman placed 16th in the 50 yard freestyle event;he also swam the 100 yard backstroke.
The bulldogs host Waverly on Thursday February 9 which is also senior/parent night. Carl Goeckel will compete 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly events at the MISCA meet on Saturday February 11 at Jenison High School.
