Ionia traveled to Haslett High School for their first dual meet in several years.  "I reminded the swimmers that we are hoping to post personal best times fro tonights meet and they all stepped up to the challenge."  "The team has struggled with injuries and illness for quite some time. We have eight out of thirteen swimmers competing for points at meets; those who competed this evening put a lot of effort in the poo;"

Freshman Gabe Holman stepped up in a huge way by competing the most yards of the evening.  He swam 50 yards in the Medley Relay,  200 yard freestyle with a personal best time to a personal best of 3:07.14, 500 yard freestyle with a first time finish to 8:34.29 then 50 yards in the 200 yard freestyle relay.  Freshman Christian Martinez also stepped up by swimming the Medley Relay, 500 yard freestyle with a first time finish of 7:31.44, 200 yard freestyle relay and 100 yard breast stroke.  

Carl Goeckel earned third place top scores of the evening.  He swam another personal best  in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.75 with a first place finish.  He placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and swam on the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay events. Estin Lyons swam a personal best time in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.27.  He also competed in the 100 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:08.00, the 200 and 400 yard freestyle events. Nick Richey swam to personal best times in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:52.02 dropping 2.98 seconds.  He also swam the 100 yard breast stroke, as well as, on the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays.  Elijah Peterson had amazing swims in both the 200 yard freestyle event finishing with a time of 3:02.53 and a personal best in the 100 yard butterfly dropping 24.08 seconds!  Elijah also swam in the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relays.  Chris Brown swam completely different events than the normal ones he's been competing.  He swam the 100 yard freestyle with a personal best time of 1:13.81 and the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:36.55.  Chris also competed on the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay events.  Yadiel Villodas swim in the 200 yard medley relay event, the 50 yard freestyle with a personal best time of 36.59 and the 100 yard freestyle event also with a personal best time of 1:27.07; he also competed in the 20 yard freestyle relay.  Jordon Masters competed in the 50 yard freestyle event, yet swam 50 yard backstroke which is the luxury of the freestyle events!  Jordon swam to a second personal best time of 1:08.27.

The team has a CAAC league win loss record of 0 and 4; all around record of 0-5.  The Bulldogs will host the Bulldogs of Mason High School on Thursday January 26 for the Ionia Community Awareness Purple Meet.
