The swimming Bulldogs from Ionia High School participated in Thornapple-Kellogg/Hastings inaugural relay invitational.  "We represented Ionia athletics with pride and strong swims.  Our swimmers continue to drop times and improve in their technique every time they compete", stated Laura Fish.  "A relay meet is difficult for a small team especially one that is struggling with injuries and illness, we discussed having strong swims while working on various portions of their event."

Top point scorers for the Bulldogs were Carl Goeckel and NIck Richey with 19.75 ppints each.  The two swimmers competed in the same relay events; 800 Free Relay, 500 Progressive Relay, 200 Breast stroke Relay and 400 Free Relay.  Estin Lyons earned 18.5 points as he competed in the 500 Progressive Relay and posting his personal best in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 28.12.  He also competed in the 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 yard Freestyle Relay.  Chris Brown earned 15.5 points after competing in the 800 Free Relay, 500 Progressive Relay and 200 Breast stroke Relay.  Elijah Peterson swam in the 800 Free Relay and 200 Free Relay earning 13.5 points.  Freshman Gabe Holman scored 12.5 points after he competed in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.  Christian Martinez competed in the 200 Free Relay and 200 Breast Stroke Relay.

The Bulldogs will travel to Haslett High School on Thursday, January 19, 2023.  WE will host Mason High School on Thursday January 26 for our Community Awareness Purple Meet.
