Ionia Varsity Wrestling team placed 4th out of 9 teams today at the Hastings Individual tournament. Ionia had 15 wrestlers competing today, and 7 Bulldogs placed in the top 4 coming home with medals. Out of the 7 medalists Ionia came home with one champion Hunter Barker at 150 pound weight class pinning his way through the tournament and going 3-0. We had 3 wrestlers take 2nd place: Freshman Jackson Gallagher at 113 pounds, Senior Nathan Clute at 165 pounds, and Senior Chase Holford at 190 pounds. Chris Smith at Heavy Weight went 3-1 today bringing home a 3rd place medal, and both of our 106 pounders placed today: Ricky Charon took 3rd and Aaron Wolthuis Came home with a 4th place medal. Also getting a win on the day were wrestlers Austin Murphy and Gabe Rogers.

Ionia will back on the mat this Wednesday where we return to Lansing Eastern to wrestle Lansing Sexton and Williamston. Wrestling starts at 5:30!
