Ionia hosted the 26th annual Mike Adamson Wrestling Invitational today. There were nine schools in attendance including Portland, Zeeland East, East Lansing,Lansing Eastern, Delton Kellogg, Owosso, St. Johns, and Ovid-Elsie. Ionia finished 6th as a team and had 4 wrestlers come home with medals. We had four wrestlers place 4th today: Wade Charon at 106 lbs, Ricky Charon at 113 lbs, Chad Campbell at 120lbs, and Drake Wittenbach at 285lbs. Also finding some success today were Aaron Wolthuis at 132 lbs who went 1-3 placing 7th, Vincent Crippen went 2-3 and placed 7th, Jayden Dornbos went 2-3 taking 6th place, Colter Reed went 1-4 taking 8th place, and Wyatt Berry went 1-1 finishing in 5th place.

The Ionia wrestling coaches would like to thank the entire Ionia wrestling community for all of their help in running another outstanding wrestling tournament today.  Thank you to all of our parents, former wrestlers, and community members for all of their efforts to make the tournament a success.  So many individuals helped with running the tournament on trackwrestling, writing names on charts, working in the concession stand, helping athletes as the athletic trainer, and our table help did an amazing job all day long.  It is because of these people that Ionia continues to run a great tournament every year!

Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat next week where our girls will travel to Dewitt on Friday and our Boys will travel to Hastings Saturday.
