Ionia traveled to Lakeview this weekend to wrestle in 2 tournaments, a JV tournament Friday night and a Varsity tournament Saturday. Friday, Ionia had 11 wrestlers and eight placed in the top 4 and seven brought home medals. Nathan Dygert took 1st place going 4-0 and Logan Rozewski also took 1st place. Paige Campbell took 2nd place going 3-1, Kara Kramer-Lake place 2nd going 2-1 and Logan Turnes placed 2nd going 4-1. Levi Schied and Sarah Schafer placed 3rd and Victor Ledesma placed 4th. 

Ionia brought seven wrestlers to the varsity tournament where all seven wrestlers placed in the top 6 bringing home some hardware. We also placed 4th as a team out of 16 schools. Taking 2nd place today was Jonathan Anderson at the 145 pound wt class . Killian Campbell took 3rd place at 140 with his only loss of the day being to a returning state finalist. Nathan Clute at 171 and Chris Smith at HWT both took 4th place. Ethan Bowen at 160 and Chase Holford at 215 both took 5th place. Demetri Davis finished 6th and went 3-2 on the day. 

Ionia will be back on the mat this Wednesday at Ionia High School wrestling starts at 6pm.
