The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Portland tonight for the second conference match up of the season. After taking a few points to find their groove, the offense started running efficiently off of fantastic effort from the defensive line. The Bulldogs pulled ahead and closed out the first set 25-19. Ionia stepped back onto the court with high energy and continued effort throughout the second set. Some big rallies made the set an exciting one and the team was able to push through to a 25-21 finish. The Bulldogs kept the aggressive play and mental focus throughout the third set, finishing strong with a 25-13 win to close out the match in straight sets. 

Great defensive effort shined tonight with consistent work and digs that had the crowd on their feet! Paige Castillo led the back row with 23 digs while Londyn Brown kept 9 in play. At the net Brynn Reams, Jessa Swinehart & Kassidy Casillas all had 1 block each. The offense had a night that matched the intensity of the defense. Danika Fyan led the efforts with 11 kills while Emma Scoby put down 10. Casillas had a season high match setting the hitters up for success with 37 assists. Swinehart led from behind the service line with 6 aces while Casillas and Scoby each served up 2. Fantastic team effort tonight! The Bulldogs move to 30-5-1 overall and 7-1 in the CAAC. Next up the Varsity Volleyball team will be home for a quad on Thursday starting at 5pm.
