The Varsity Volleyball team recognized their 3 Seniors tonight as they faced off against Portland in the final home & conference match of the season. After taking time to honor Layla, Molly & Alexias and their parents, the Bulldogs took to the court with strong, balanced play to quickly put away the 1st set 25-14. The 2nd set saw Ionia come out a bit flat, and after going back & forth, ultimately dropping it 23-25. With a renewed sense of determination, the Bulldogs took to the court and finished the night strong, winning the next 2 sets and closing out the match. 

The defensive effort tonight was led by Senior Alexias Daugherty with 22 digs while Logan Thomas kept another 15 in play. At the net Senior Layla Delnay had a solo block as did Tessa Lemke and Amaya Frias. Offensively the attack was led by Frias with 10 kills while Lemke put down another 8 with no errors and Senior Molly Waterman added another 6. The offense was paced by Grace Droste with 20 assists while Alli Shaw put up another 15. Behind the service line Thomas led with 4 aces while Lemke dropped in another 3. 

The Bulldogs end regular season conference play 4-3 and are now 22-11-3 overall. Next Ionia will travel to Lakewood for the Conference Tournament this Saturday. Great work Bulldogs and THANK YOU to our amazing seniors!
