The Varsity Volleyball team hosted their annual Invite today. The Bulldogs opened play against Lansing Eastern and quickly put away both sets with strong all-around play 25-3 & 25-8. Next Ionia faced off against Gull Lake. They got off to a slow start dropping the first set 12-25 but battled back taking the 2nd set 27-26. The third match of the day was against Forest Hills Eastern. The Bulldogs jumped out to a strong start behind aggressive swings taking the 1st set 25-17, but faltering a bit in the 2nd dropping it 22-25. Ionia wrapped pool play against East Lansing bouncing back to solid all around play with a 25-12 & 25-13 match win. Seeding out 2nd place Ionia matched up against Forest Hills Eastern again. The Bulldogs were ready and focused this time and put away the first set 25-9 and rolled their quick pace of play into the 2nd set, closing out the match 25-15. The Finals were a rematch against Gull Lake. The Bulldogs worked hard and put together solid play coming up just short 23-25. The 2nd set started strong but Ionia was unable to push through and dropped the 2nd set 16-25, finishing out the day in 2nd Place. 

The offensive attack today was led by Amaya Frias with 43 kills, while Logan Thomas added 31 and Molly Waterman put down 22. Grace Droste paced the offense with 102 assists. Behind the service line Paislie Patterson kept teams out of system with 12 aces while Frias dropped in 11. The defensive line held strong led by Patterson with 64 digs while Thomas kept another 45 in play and Frias 43. At the net Tessa Lemke and Droste each had 5 blocks. 

Ionia Varsity is now 21-11-3 on the season. Next up the Bulldogs are home for their last conference match up against Portland and Senior Night! Let's fill the stands and cheer on the Bulldogs & thank our Seniors for all their contributions to the program over the years! Great work Bulldogs!
