The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team toed the line with their CAAC rivals for the first of their 3 league jamborees Tuesday at Grand Woods Park in Lansing.  This was supposed to be the second jamboree, but the first was canceled due to thunderstorms.  The Bulldogs fared very well, scoring 50 points to place second behind Eaton Rapids which had 31.  Junior Jacob Montgomery outkicked his rival from Charlotte to bring home the top place overall in 16:57.  Juniors Ellis Yokom (6th in 18:16), Tyson Evans (9th in 18:31), Lincoln Denis (14th in 19:17), and Alex Bushee (22nd in 19:47) followed Montgomery across the finish line to complete the scoring for the Bulldogs. While the course didn’t yield particularly fast times, three Bulldogs still managed lifetime personal best times.  Cadence Denis-Griffith in 21:39, Gabe Hollman in 25:21, and Payton Baker in 26:44 set new career marks.  Ionia will take a break from racing to get in their final big block of training and then will return to action at the Greater Lansing Championship on October 15.
