Ionia Boys’ Cross Country competed at the Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational on Saturday with more than 100 other teams in attendance.  The Bulldogs raced to a 7th-place finish out of 15 teams in their division, narrowly missing 6th place on a tie-breaker.  The boys raced well, with 7 of 11 earning lifetime personal record times on the day.  First across the line for Ionia was junior Jacob Montgomery in 6th place out of 96 boys with a lifetime pr of 16:49.  Just behind him was Ellis Yokom in 12th with a lifetime pr of 17:13.  Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs and all earning lifetime pr’s were Tyson Evans (43rd in 18:21), Alex Bushee (50th in 18:42), and Lincoln Denis (56th in 18:49).  Freshman 6th man Jaxxon Thelen also earned a lifetime pr of 19:27.  Freshman Payton Baker raced to a lifetime pr of 28:49 in the jv race.  The Bulldogs are looking forward to racing the course at Lansing’s Grand Woods Park on Tuesday for a CAAC White  league jamboree.
