The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team toed the line with athletes from 14 other teams at the Central Montcalm Hornet Invitational on Saturday morning.  Races were contested by grade level so no team scores were kept.  Six freshman boys came home with medals led by Jaxxon Thelen who placed 18th in 20:58 (lifetime pr). Also medaling were Dalles Bailiff (19th in 22:08), Cadence Denis-Griffith (21st in 22:19), and Tony Shattuck 22nd in a lifetime pr of 22:36).  Additionally, Payton Baker earned a lifetime pr of 31:16.  In the junior race Jacob Montgomery cruised to a 3rd-place finish in 17:21.  His four classmates also medaled led by Ellis Yokom (9th in 18:18), Tyson Evans (11th in 18:55), Alex Bushee (15th in a season pr 19:43), and Lincoln Denis (17th in 19:50).  The Bulldogs will focus on their training next week in preparation for their first CAAC White Jamboree on September 20th at the Country Mill.
