The Ionia boys’ cross country team competed in the Marauder Invitational at Uncle John’s Cider Mill on Wednesday evening and brought home the runner-up plaque in the 13-team field.  The Bulldogs competed well, running smart and gaining spots throughout the race.  First in for the Bulldogs was Jacob Montgomery in 4th place out of 126 boys with a time of 17:19.  Following close behind and earning medals were teammates Ellis Yokom in 11th (18:06), Tyson Evans in 16th (18:32), and Lincoln Denis in 29th (19:39).  Rounding out the scoring 5 was Alex Bushee in 34th (19:53).  Lifetime personal records were earned by Lincoln Denis, Jaxxon Thelen (21:04), Cadence Denis-Griffith (22:16), Tony Shattuck (22:43) and Payton Baker (32:49).  Season personal records were earned by Ellis Yokom, Tyson Evans, and Alex Bushee.  The Bulldogs will compete in grade races at Central Montcalm on Saturday.
