2021 CAAC WHITE CHAMPIONS!!  That is the title earned by the Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team as they completed a season sweep of their league rivals by winning the third league jamboree at Portland.  The boys outpaced runner-up Lansing Catholic 27 to 48 to claim the outright title.  Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Josiah Magley who ended as the individual league champion by winning all three jamborees.  He outran the competition with an outstanding time of 16:14.  Heath LaPointe followed right behind in 3rd place in a lifetime PR of 16:48 to earn All-CAAC recognition.  Jacob Montgomery finished 5th in 17:13 and earned All-CAAC.  Ellis Yokom teamed with Jacob throughout the race and crossed the line in 6th place in a lifetime PR of 17:14 to also earn All-CAAC. Rounding out the top 5 was Andrew Gerdes in 12th place in 17:57, earning All-CAAC.  Tyson Evans ran a lifetime PR of 18:25 as the 6th man and earned All-CAAC.  Riley Husted finished 20th in 18:32 and earned Honorable Mention All-CAAC.  Other outstanding Bulldog performances included Demetri Davis who ran a season PR of 19:20, Alex Bushee who ran a lifetime PR of 19:30, and Lincoln Denis who ran a lifetime PR of 22:04.   Ionia will return to action on Friday, October 29 when they compete in the MHSAA D2 Regional meet at the St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt with a team berth to the state finals on the line.
