The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team went into Tuesday’s CAAC White Jamboree with something to prove and came out in first place on the course at Burchfield Park in Holt. The boys raced with confidence and were able to best the D3 fourth-ranked Lansing Catholic team by scoring 27 to LCC’s second-place total of 47.  This meet was the first of three that will determine the league champion team and individual all-league awards.  Leading the charge for the Bulldogs was Josiah Magley who was the overall medalist in a lifetime PR of 15:20.  Heath LaPointe was close behind finishing 4th in a lifetime PR of 16:16.  Right on Heath’s heels was Jacob Montgomery who clocked a lifetime PR of 16:28 to finish 5th.  Andrew Gerdes and Ellis Yokom worked as a strong team in the 4th and 5th scoring spots.  They finished 8th and 9th in lifetime PR times of 17:06 and 17:10 respectively.  Tyson Evans made sure to clinch the tie breaker, if needed, racing to an 11th place finish as the Bulldog #6 in a lifetime PR of 17:42.  Other Bulldogs who attacked the course to earn lifetime PR’s included Demetri Davis in 18:40, Alex Bushee in 20:13, and Lincoln Denis in 22:02.  Xander Lange raced to a season PR of 18:44.  The next test for the Bulldogs will be the excellent D1 and D2 competition at the Cougar-Falcon Invitational on Saturday at the Gainey Athletic Complex on the campus of Calvin University.
